Last weekend was my other half's birthday. I had spent so long trying to find the perfect present and stressing over the card that would be right. In the end, the presents didn't arrive on time and being designer I decided to make make an IOU card.
At first I worried about this, how would she be not having anything to open on her birthday? Would it be a good idea or a bad idea? In the end I stuck to my guns and made little IOU post-it notes and stuck them into the card with drawn pictures of what I had got her on them.
When I gave it to her I was pleasantly surprised by her face. Her eyes light up as she looked at what was to come. And even better, when the presents did arrive over a week late and I did get them all over to her and she opened them up for real her smile was double the size.
Sometimes it works to try something you're not sure about.
